Workers and companies are paying more for family health insurance

The average cost of an American worker’s family insurance plan is up 6% from the year before, per a survey from health research group KFF.

A majority of Americans receive health insurance from a job. The rest have plans from Obamacare, Medicare, or Medicaid.

While employers shouldered 75% of the cost, workers are still paying a yearly average of $6,850 (~$600/month). Plus, many of these plans still have high deductibles, resulting in large out-of-pocket bills in the event of an accident or severe illness.
